RCMRD Chairperson Visits Ethiopia

The new Chairperson of the RCMRD Conference of Ministers Hon. Judith Nabakooba, who is the Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development in Uganda is visiting Ethiopia. She met with Hon. Dr. Belete Molla Getahun the Minister, Ministry of Innovation and technology in Ethiopia. The two discussed about the activities that RCMRD is implementing in Ethiopia and plans for the year 2023.

The Chairperson is accompanied by a team from RCMRD led by the Director General Dr. Emmanuel Nkurunziza. Hon. Nabakooba has purposed to visit some of the member States to promote RCMRD activities as well as get appraised on the implementation of some of the decisions passed during the 12th Conference of Ministers held at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, Uganda.

Hon. Nabakooba took over from Hon. Dr. Kefentse C. Mzwinila Minister of Land and Water Affairs of the Republic of Botswana, in November 2022. She will serve in that capacity for the next two years.

Uganda was the first of five countries that signed the agreement setting up the Centre in 1975. They signed the agreement on February 21, 1975. The other countries were Kenya on March 7, 1975; Somalia on March 13, 1975; Malawi on March 19, 1975 and Tanzania on May 12, 1975.
