Two thirds of Nepal’s population is dependent on agriculture for livelihood. More than a third of the country’s Gross Domestic Product comes from the agriculture sector. Nevertheless, with climate change contributing to uncertainities in weather patterns, the water cycle, and water availability, reliable crop production across Nepal faces a

serious challenge. Consequently, there is a genuine concern over its impact on food security. To help solve this concern, SERVIR-Himalaya and its partner organization, the International Center for Mountain Development (ICIMOD), worked with the Nepal Ministry of Agricultural Development (MoAD) to develop the first ever web-based Agricultural Atlas of Nepal. The Atlas, officially launched on 26 August 2015 in Kathmandu, is the earliest component of an Agriculture Management Information System that will serve as a firm basis for agricultural and food security analysis and planning in Nepal.
