The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) is hosting a one-week Regional Training of Trainers Programme on Integration of Land Tenure Monitoring in Development Projects Using Geo-Spatial Technologies workshop from 11th to 18th April 2016. The Training of Trainers workshop has attracted participants
from eleven Eastern and Southern African countries including Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Mozambique, and Comoros. The training is set to track whether investments in land tenure interventions are effective in the framework of creating advocacy for promoting investments to strengthen tenure security and promote land tenure monitoring and evaluation integration within the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) supported programmes using geo-spatial technologies. The training is building on the on-going tenure monitoring using land indicators as identified in the post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other platforms such as the Global Land Indicators Initiative (GLII), among others. The training is also drawing on experiences and lessons from the initiatives of the projects and programmes on areas such as access to land for women and youths, customary tenure, land and resource conflicts and others.
