By harnessing high- resolution Earth Observation (EO) data and digital innovation, this mandate will empower RCMRD to move beyond reactive measures toward predictive drought resilience. This collaboration is specifically designed to bridge the "insight gap," transforming complex satellite imagery into actionable tools that allow decision-makers to pinpoint land degradation with unprecedented precision.

At the core of this mandate is a commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target 15.3, focusing on Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN). RCMRD acts as the technical "engine," providing decision-support systems and in situ data services that simplify the complex UN reporting process. By fostering national ownership of these data systems, the partnership ensures that African countries have the technical capacity to collect, analyze, and utilize spatial information effectively, making progress toward national conservation targets both measurable and transparent.
