RCMRD and iMMAP Inc. Forge Partnership to Address Disaster Response Across Africa

This strategic agreement, signed by RCMRD Director General Dr. Emmanuel Nkurunziza and iMMAP Inc., establishes a framework designed to bridge the gap between advanced geoinformatics and frontline humanitarian assistance. By merging RCMRD’s fifty-year legacy as an intergovernmental in geospatial with iMMAP’s international expertise in Information Management, the partnership is uniquely positioned to deliver high-quality, targeted support to the world’s most vulnerable populations.

In an era defined by increasing climate-driven disasters, the two organizations have committed to deploying flexible, rapid-response teams-both remotely and in the field-to stabilize information workflows during critical crises. This operational synergy ensures that humanitarian responders can access real-time, validated data to inform life-saving interventions. The scope of the MoU is built upon several critical pillars, including integrated mapping for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), structured technical training to enhance capacity within member States, and joint research activities focused on the collaborative exploration of space technology applications
