Geospatial Information Technology is a cross cutting theme in the Servir-ESA project that provides support to other themes in the following key areas:

  • Applications and Data Management
  • Server Equipment Administration and ICT Support
  • Management of Cloud infrastructure
  • Knowledge Management Portals
  • Capacity Building

 Applications and Data Management

  • Management of data publishing and sharing applications i.e. Geoportal, Geonetwork, apps portal, visualization tools etc.
  • ArcGIS Server Management and its related enterprise geodatabase
  • Reviewing of datasets to conform to USAID’s policy on Data and Metadata standards.
  • Build Web Services for all layers developed
  • ArcGIS Online Management, to provide a Custom of the Shelf solution for developing, publishing and managing web maps
  • Implementing Portal for ArcGIS

Server Equipment Administration and ICT Support

  • Procurement and maintenance of Hardware, Software and their related license
  • Upgrading the Server and network attached storage units
  • System Administration of all the main servers (Network, Database and Application)
  • Establishing a network storage to centralize GIS data
  • Implementing an automated/ scheduled backup utility for the servers

Management of Cloud Infrastructure

  • Amazon Cloud (Crest, Geoportals etc.)
  • Microsoft Dynamics (CRM etc.)
  • Bit Bucket (Code Versioning)

Knowledge Management Portals

Customer Relation Management System (For all User Engagement activities such training workshops, events etc.)

Apps Portal Management: The apps portal is a dashboard/ landing page for accessing all the spatial based services that RCMRD has deployed and shared online. The services include tools/applications, datasets, products, maps and web map services. Its web access link is
