Hon. James Orengo, Minister for Lands, Kenya today opened workshop and meeting on Africa Reference Framework (AFREF) to run for three days at the RCMRD.
Participants are drawn from the greater RCMRD member states to share experiences and knowledge base on modernization of geodetic networks as well as to discuss establishment and maintenance of modern geodetic networks.
The workshop was jointly organized by RCMRD, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Dutch Kadaster (Netherlands Kadaster, Land Registry/Mapping Agency) and ITC/Twente University

Hon. Gugile Nkwinti, Minister Department of Rural Development and Land Reform for South Africa had meeting with Dr. Hussein Farah DG RCMRD in Pretoria, SA to deliberate preparations of the 8th Council of Ministers Conference to be held Mid-November in Livingstone, ZAMBIA.
Also in attendance were Messer Mmuso Riba Chief Surveyor General SA – Chair of RCMRD Technical Committee and Messer Mduduzi Shabane Director General Department of Rural Development and Land Reform SA – Chair of RCMRD Governing Council.

The RCMRD was honoured to host Prof. Yang Siquan Director National Committee for Disaster Reduction, China and Dr. Pedro Basabe Director Regional Office for Africa of United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) at a meeting to forge partnerships and share innovations towards Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
As an outcome of the visit, the three institutions RCMRD, NCDR and UNISDR will form a tripartite partnership on DRR.

The Team of Experts on The Sudan – South Sudan Border Settlement of the African Union (Addis Ababa, ETHIOPIA) led by Hon. Judge Abdell Koroma made visit to RCMRD to meet with Senior Technical Staff to deliberate on technical issues in support of the Border Programme with relation to Earth Observation, Surveying and Mapping.
Also included were Lt. Col. Nonhlanhla Ntombela, Grant Bowers and Bryson Morebodi
