This course involve the art and science of graphically representing a geographical area, usually on a flat surface such as a map or chart. It may involve the superimposition of political, cultural, or other none geographical divisions onto the representation of a geographical area. Geographical information Systems (GIS) was recently developed as a computer application capable of performing a wide range of functions of Cartography. GIS is a system designed to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present all types of geographical data.

Career Opportunities: Cartographers are required in:- conservation, government, the military, publishing, surveying, health, research, agriculture, mining etc. With GIS graduates from this course are required in almost all fields.

Course duration: Two and half years equivalent to eight term

Tuition fee: ksh. 33,750 per term. Total: ksh. 270,000, or 3,000USD

Certification: KNEC (Examination and Certificate)

Minimum Qualification: KCSE. Main grade. C- (minus) with D+ in any two subjects (Mathematics, chemistry, Geography or English)

Career Development: Graduates of this course can further their studies in local and international universities and enroll in relevant degree programs
